Saba

Marci and I were very fortunate to spend our anniversary in Saba. Once again we stayed with the wonderful people at the Ecolodge. Last year we spent one night on the island and crammed as many activities we could into 30'ish hours on the island. This time we decided to spend 3 nights and four days, allowing more time for exploration, relaxation and disconnecting.

I cannot justly describe the island's amazing natural beauty in a single post but would love to share a few pictures. I would strongly recommend the island for vacationers enjoying doing: hiking and scuba diving.

The Winds of Change

The winds of change are sweeping through our house. No, I am not speaking of the new administration. I am also not referring to the welcomed longer and longer days. No, our four legged friends have unleashed their coup d'etat!

As most of the readers know we added a lovely cat to our eclectic mix. As a kitten she seemed so sweet and shy... Little did we know of the mastermind she would turn out to be with her excessive plotting and machination. It turns out she is the catalyst of the upheaval; she is the Brain to Lucy's Pinky!

A month ago Henry and I made momma some chocolate chip cookies. The family enjoyed about 6 and left for the day to run errands. On our return we were engulfed in the stinging smell and fog of napalm from their surprise attack. Spread across the floor were crumbs, little remembrances of our (more properly their) tasty treats.

Well, they have struck again. I made Mar a chocolate cake which we each enjoyed a piece of last night(notice the symmetrically cut section.) Today, I went out to shovel the light dusting of snow. When I came back in animals bolted in separate directions and I entered the following crime scene:

It is quite the whodunit!

HT The Seadog

Every weekday morning Henry and I drive to daycare and discuss the topics on HT's mind. Topics do vary daily and today he had the sea on his mind. Here is a recap:

Henry: There is an eagle on it.
Dad: There is an eagle on what?
H: And they say 'PULL!'
D: Oh, you mean an eagle on the boat we were on?
H: Yeah! (in his duh voice)
D: That's right! There was an eagle on the ship [The Golden Eagle] and they pulled up the sails and pulled up the anchor!
H: On the pirate ship! [now jumping ahead to our second day sail, The Lord Sheffield]
(pause)
H: And my girlfriend!
(pause)
H: My Girlfriend. (sigh)

This Little Casanova collects girlfriends like most kids do seashells. Henry is obviously very wise. He is currently working on his second book titled "My Life at Sea." The book is written into two parts beginning as a novella on his romanticism of the open waters and ends as an insightful how-to for young and old to give up their landlubber ways.

Here is a pre-published sample from the second half of his book:

A gazillion

That's how many things I need to do before we leave and I've decided to post here instead ;) but the way my week is going at work I'm fairly sure I won't have time to post until after we get back.

Tomorrow is our 5 year anniversary - I had big plans to post a loving message to my hubby but now realize that I'll just have to stick with the "I love ya babe." It's been a wonderful adventure so far and I'm excited to see what comes next for us.

This is also my last post made by me while in my 20's - I'll be 30 by the time we get back! I'm excited for it and know that things will only continue to get better.

We'll miss you all (and will see some of you there!) but we promise to come back with at least a gazillion pics!

Flour

On new years day at grandma and grandpa's house Henry was playing with some flour - scooping and pouring it back and forth between a couple bowls. He was loving every minute of it.

doing his interpretive dance:

So the next day he wanted to play with flour again so we set him up - it wasn't long until one of them (not naming names *cough*dada*cough*) threw some flour at the other and a flour fight ensued:

I should have known better when Bill asked me for the camera:

Turns out he was just studying how to cook everything!

Christmas Day Pics - part 2

The boys in their ties:

More presents??

Loving his blocks:

Supervising grandpa opening his lightning mcqueen bath stuff:

The phrase we now hear most often is "let's build somethin'"

This is what grandpa built during Henry's nap (Henry promptly knocked it over - his favorite thing to do after he builds somethin')

Taking a bath after his long day of playing and eating:

Lucky climbed grandma and grandpa's tree too :)
