A bike ride to the park

Two weekends ago we went on a long bike ride and attempted to get as much fall air in our lungs as we could because we knew the frosty mornings and eventually snowy days were on their way.
First we biked along Minnehaha parkway:

Henry's toy minivan must have told him along the way that it wished to spend the winter in the creek so he obliged and tossed it in:

Then we reached the park where Henry played in the sand:

He didn't want to leave but we were able to use our vast skills of buying him ice cream parental persuasion and reasoning to convince him.

Who are you not to shine?

Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Amy recently bought Henry Rock All Day, Rock All Night by The Nields. There are some good songs on there, I really like the lyrics to this one:

Who Are You Not To Shine

Sometimes you wish you were someone different
Sometimes you want to start all over again
Sometimes you want to go back to being a baby
Sometimes you want to jump ahead to the end

Maybe you could start to see it different
Maybe you could sit down here and rest
Maybe you could hear it once from my side
I think you are the best, the best, the best

Who are you not to shine?
Who are you not to glow?
Who are you not to be your own best self?
You can be who you are
You can change as you grow
But be you, don’t be anybody else

If you weren’t you then who would tell your stories
If you weren’t you then who would walk your miles?
If you weren’t you then who would help your sisters?
If you weren’t you then who would smile your smile?

Chorus

Hot chockahwit

Bill thought it would be a good idea if we got Henry a special hot drink to have when we have coffee in the mornings so we got him some hot chocolate. Here are some pics of him enjoying his first cup on Saturday.

He knows what to wear

Henry picked out his own clothes last Thursday and we thought he did a pretty good job (he's also wearing his spiderman light up shoes and when he went outside he had on his "vest jacket" both of which were also selected by him)

The Army of Women

The mother of one of my dearest friends is a breast cancer survivor. She told me about The Army of Women and I signed up this morning. I encourage all of you (sorry men, ladies only) to do the same. Please read the info below and click the link to register (they just need your name, year of birth, e mail and zipcode).

The Love/Avon Army of Women offers women the opportunity to partner with the scientists who are conducting research that will end this disease--once and for all.

Breast cancer has been around for decades, but it does not have to be our future. We can be the generation that stops breast cancer once and for all by figuring out what causes this disease and how to prevent it!

Sign up for your sister, mother, daughter, granddaughter, best friend, and the woman you met last week. This is YOUR chance to be part of the research that will end breast cancer.

It takes a just a minute to join. But the impact we will have will last a lifetime.

"Go to the fishie store?"

There is a fish store one block from our house. We drive by it 2 times a day and for over a year Henry never really spoke of it (we went there once last winter to entertain him for free when it was cold out). Recently he has become obsessed with it and says "Hi fishie store" every time we drive by. He asks me in the mornings "go to fishie store tonight?" and I usually reply with something along the line of "maybe." He's persistent though and we have been there a few times in the past couple weeks. On Sunday grandma and grandpa came with us to the fishie store and grandpa snapped a few pics. If you ever have trouble getting a hold of us, try the fishie store.
