Not a baby anymore

Henry had his 2 year well check today and here are his official stats:

Weight: 30 lbs 6 oz (79%tile)

Height: 36.3 inches (93%tile)

Head circumference: 20 inches (94%tile)

He had one shot (Hep A) and managed not to cry. He's slightly ahead of the curve on language and the doctor was impressed with him. He doesn't go back until he's 3!

Pics from the park

We went to Minnehaha park on Sunday for Monica and Erin's reception. As we were leaving Henry decided to lay down on the ground so Bill snapped a couple adorable pics:

Happy Birthday Henry!

Dear Little Man,

Two years ago today I had the privilege of becoming your mother. My life changed forever from the first time I held you in my arms and looked into your eyes. I now look at the words adventure, peace, mine, and love differently than I once did.

You have taught me things I never knew I wanted or needed to learn, you have given my life and your dada’s life a new purpose. Thank you for teaching us what’s really important in life and for being with us on this exciting adventure. I look into your eyes and can see all the ideas running through your mind and am excited to see what adventures each new day brings us. I often wonder how I got so lucky.

Whoever said that having kids is like having your heart walk around outside of your body was definitely right.

I love you more than I can put into words and I promise to always protect you (especially from the "scary parts" :)). Thank you for being you.

xoxo,
Mama

Big boy bed

Henry is sleeping in his big boy bed for the first time tonight. More pics of it later but this one is too cute!

ETA: He made it the whole night without falling or climbing out of bed! This morning when he woke up he waited for someone to come and get him. Hopefully our luck will last!

Blueberry "Coffee"

As I have mentioned before, Henry loves his blueberry "coffee" from Caribou. Here are a few pictures demonstrating why it is best to drink it outside!

Uncle MIKE!!

Henry loves his Uncle Mike and has since they first met in September 2006. I'm pretty sure these pictures will show you just how much.

Done cryin' mama

Whenever Henry doesn't get his own way he usually cries. He has perfected this cry so that he can even produce tears on command. Here is a typical scenario:

Marci: "What do you want for dinner? Corn dogs, macaroni and cheese?"
Henry: "Ice cream"
Marci: "No, we need to have dinner first and then we can have ice cream if we eat a good dinner"
Henry (while opening the freezer and reaching for the ice cream): "ICE CREEEEAM!!"
Marci (while struggling to close the freezer): "No ice cream right now"

Then Henry begins to sob for approximately 30 seconds to a minute while I ignore him and wait for him to finish but here is the new (and in my opinion totally adorable and hilarious)part, when he's calmed himself down he walks over to me and says:

"Done cryin' mama"

He learned this one at daycare because when he sees the daughter of his daycare provider put in timeout she is told to let her mom know when she is done crying so that they can talk about what she did etc. He has been watching this and has adapted it to his own needs which frankly works quite well in my opinion. As soon as he tells us he's done we talk to him about why he was crying and move on.
