"My name is Henry!"

We have many nicknames for Henry; little man, H.T., buddy, sweetie etc. When we call him these names lately he quickly responds (in a somewhat irritated tone) that "My name is Henry!" Or he'll say "I'm not sweetie, I'm HENRY." It's hard not to laugh.

3,2,1 Blastoff!!

Henry does something called 3,2,1 blast off during swimming class (grab a hold of the wall and push off with your legs and practice your backfloat). This made him realize he has an actual rocket at home and has been having a ton of fun with it lately. Here are some cute pics:

Current Henryisms

bopsign = stop sign

oopsie doopsie = oopsie daisy (?)

asghetti = spaghetti

While changing his poopy diaper "that's nasty!" (it was super disgusting)

When asked what he wants to be for Halloween, "A baby" So we asked how to create this costume he told us "need a baby bottle and a baby stroller" I think seeing the babies at daycare makes him want the kind of attention they get, not sure. Most nights of the week he asks one of us to wrap him up in a blanket and hold him like a baby. While we're doing that the "baby" says (in a babyish voice) "baby needs a bottle." (he's going to be Nemo for Halloween)

He often tells Bill to "stop talking to my girlfriend"

"That car is on fire!!"

As the colder weather approaches things are starting to change all around us. Those of us that have experienced the change of seasons more than once tend to be less likely to notice the details. Henry is really experiencing fall for the first time this year and I'm grateful to be enjoying the little things with him. This morning the car had a layer of fall-like dew on it (the kind where if it had been a couple degrees cooler I would have been scraping) and when Henry saw it he announced "Mama! It rained on your car last night!" Then we drove to Monica's house (for daycare or as he sometimes calls it "playing with my friends") and waited to cross the street once we got there and got out of the car. A car drove by us with visible exhaust since it was a bit chilly and Henry noticed this and told me "Oh no mama that car is on fire!!" (he recently learned what fire was). I tried to explain to him that smoke doesn't always mean fire and he pretty much rolled his eyes.

Other things he is loving about fall include wearing socks (and taking them off), putting the hood up on his sweatshirt and wearing his new shoes (because the girls like them). He dislikes the dry air which is bringing back his extremely dry skin and bloody noses.

So take a moment to enjoy the little things about fall right now because before you know it there will be snow!
